ABOUT THE PUMP HOUSE
The Pump House Brewery today is a group of beer brewing and bar/catering business, it was opened as a brewpub in downtown Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada in 1999 by the co-owners Shaun Fraser, a local fire department chief, and his wife Lilia, both have since won outstanding entrepreneurships for their remarkable success. They debuted in style on New Year's Eve with the first new beer of the Millenium. The Brewpub grew so popular that expansion was necessary. In July 2002, a brewing/bottling plant was built outside the city centre and production began in the same year. A gausthaus/restaurant was also established later on the plant site, called the Barn Yard BBQ.
The Pump House made a huge splash during its first time show-up at the annual Canadian Brewing Awards in 2005. We captured 9 medals in 6 different categories, included in this were 6 gold and 3 bronze. By gaining the first spot in both gold and total tally, we won the coveted title of Canada's "Brewery of the Year". The Awards are currently the only contest in Canada that invites breweries of every size from all parts of the country to compete against each other in a blind tasting and see who truly brews the best in the land.
Currently the Pump House, with over 50 full-time employees, distributes beer across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario, and is looking to expand soon into Newfoundland and possibly Quebec. Business is so good that plans are in the works to franchise the pub and introduce a line of food products. Never content to rest on the laurels, the technical teams are developing new brands each year.
New Brunswick premier Bernard Lord received the prestigious Brewery of the Year trophy for Pump House Brewery at the 2005 Canadian Brewing Awards ceremony gala in Toronto.
